Our New Home Away from Home

Here she is in our driveway

I giggled the whole way home from Lyman, Washington, where we picked up our trailer tonight. The idea that a big city kid like me was holding the title for a travel trailer–absurd.

Cars raced around us on the freeway. The only vehicles we overtook were giant semis, inching past them and pulling many car lengths ahead before returning to our lane. When Ami turned a corner or approached a stoplight, I tugged the oh shit handle like it was a hand brake. I said multiple times, not believing it, ”We’ll get used to it. It will only be like this for awhile.” Ami mentioned me driving the rig, and my giggles intensified.

Finally we arrived home, and after multiple tries at backing the trailer into the driveway, we got out and admired our prize. We turned on the inside light and stared. Compact and orderly, the interior was as impressive to me as if I’d designed it myself. I was siezed by giddy incredulity. “We are really doing this.”

Ami shook her head, smiling, and closed her eyes slowly. “Yeah,” she said.

I thought I would check in and see how you girls are doing with the trailer. sounds like you are having a grand time. I hope you had a brake controller installed.

    Enjoy, Corey

      Corey,

Thank you for checking in. Yes, we got our brake controller. :) We have talked about you and Debbie many times, thanking you for taking such good care of the trailer. It’s doing great. Warm and cozy through those freezing Wyoming nights.

Thanks, also, for taking the time to walk through everything. We have been able to get everything working thanks to your patience. Tell Debbie we covered the window valences with the fabric she gave us. It looks great, very homey.
